Your wedding hair should feel like you on your best day, and getting there is much easier with a plan. Here is the timeline we suggest to brides at L.A. Hair Design. Adjust it to your date and how much you want to change.

  1. As soon as your date is set: book your stylist. Wedding Saturdays fill up quickly. Booking early secures your date and gives you time for everything below.
  2. Four to six months before: talk about your look. Bring photos of your dress, veil and any hair accessories. If you want extra length or volume, this is the time to discuss extensions.
  3. Three months before: start conditioning treatments. Regular deep conditioning protein and oil mask treatments help your hair look its healthiest in photos.
  4. Six to eight weeks before: get your cut. A cut a few weeks out lets the shape settle, so you are not wearing a just-cut look on the day.
  5. Four to six weeks before: book your trial. Try your style with your accessories, take photos from every angle and decide on any changes.
  6. One to two weeks before: colour. Colouring close to the date, but not too close, gives the tone time to settle and avoids any surprises. If you are planning a bigger change such as balayage, start earlier.
  7. The week before: finishing touches. Book manicures and pedicures with our aesthetics team and pick up any jewellery from our boutique.
  8. The day of: arrive with clean, dry hair unless your stylist tells you otherwise, and wear a button-up top so you do not have to pull anything over your finished style.
